With nearly 20 years of professional experience training parents, educators and children with autism spectrum disorders (ASDs), Fran Templeton is regarded as an expert in her field. She is a staunch advocate for and provider of break-through strategies that result in a more successful and normalized life for children and adults with ASDs. She has developed and implemented many training programs that assist parents and educators to successfully include children with ASDs into both the community and the classroom – from toilet training programs and assisting school districts in setting up district-wide in-home training programs to Social Thinking®, a teaching framework for individuals aged preschool through adult, created by Michelle Garcia Winner, CCC-SLP (www.socialthinking.com) and life skills groups for both children and adults with ASDs. Before establishing Spectrum Autism Services, Fran was president of Templeton Educational Services where she and her staff offered autism consultation to school districts and parents in and around the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, such as Coppell ISD, Mansfield ISD, Burleson ISD, Aledo ISD, Hill County Co-op and Region X and Region XI Service Centers. Through Templeton Educational Services, Fran also worked as a private in-home, parent and community-based training provider and supervised other in-home training providers offering direct services.

Fran also was Founder and Executive Director of LifePoint, Inc., a nonprofit day program for adults with severe autism. She also served as Area Development Director for PATH Project where she coordinated parent training activities for families of children with disabilities, developed and coordinated an extensive parent volunteer network, problem-solved with school districts regarding special education services, and advocated with the Texas Education Agency and state legislature for in-home training and other innovative programs for parents of children with autism.

Fran graduated magna cum laude from Texas Woman’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Family Studies. She has completed numerous continuing education programs such as “Social Thinking® and the I LAUGH Curriculum for Persons with Autism Spectrum Disorders,” Council of Special Educators Annual Autism Law Conference, Picture Exchange Communication Training, and Verbal Behavior and Applied Behavior Analysis Extended Training, to name a few.
